Loren's Manifesto:

As a resident, I see opportunities for personal, family and community improvements. As a resident it is my responsibility to seek out these opportunities and make personal changes to create a positive effect upon my immediate surroundings. Doing so, reaps immediate and longterm tangible benefits that I will see and feel directly.

As a citizen, I see frustrations in inequality, inefficiency and opportunities for cultural, political and societal improvements. As a citizen, it is my responsibility to study the issues, consider all perspectives and act in a way that not only benefits me, but also maximizes benefit for everyone - especially the under-represented.

As an observer, I see the inefficiency and irresponsibility of many of our choices and actions. As an observer, it is my responsibility to not only observe, but to seek out opportunities and solutions to those inefficiencies, and to make responsible choices and encourage others to do the same.

As a designer, I see puzzles, problems, needs, desires and constraints. As a designer, it is my responsibility to solve problems and puzzles, and responsibly work within constraints (or find legitimate ways around them) to meet the needs and desires of those I seek to serve.

As a human, I am neither perfect nor infallible. I will make mistakes and will sometimes fail to choose the responsible or appropriate path. If I set myself on a pedestal claiming to always do what is best, I will soon fail and disappoint everyone I influence. The statements above are a set of goals to strive for and a place to look to remind me of where I am supposed to be going.
